Gabion mesh is made of low-carbon steel wire with high corrosion resistance, high strength and ductility or the above steel wire coated with PVC, which is woven mechanically. The box-shaped structure made of this mesh is called gabion. According to ASTM and EN standards, the diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used varies according to the engineering design requirements. Generally, it is between 2.0-4.0mm. The tensile strength of the gabion mesh steel wire is not less than 38kg/m2, the weight of the metal coating is generally higher than 245g/m2, and the edge wire diameter of the gabion mesh is generally larger than the mesh wire diameter. The length of the double-wire twisted part shall not be less than 50mm to ensure that the metal coating and PVC coating of the twisted part of the steel wire are not damaged. Gabion mesh can be used for slope support, foundation pit support, mountain rock surface hanging mesh spraying, slope vegetation (greening), railway and highway isolation and protection nets. It can also be made into box cages and mesh pads for anti-scouring protection of rivers, dams and seawalls, as well as mesh boxes for reservoirs and river interception. The most serious disaster of the river is the scouring of the river bank by the water flow, which causes flooding, resulting in a large loss of life and property and a large amount of soil erosion. Therefore, when dealing with the above problems, the application of the ecological grid structure becomes one of the best solutions, which can permanently protect the riverbed and riverbank. The advantages of the ecological grid structure of the gabion mesh: 1. The flexible structure can adapt to the changes of the slope without being destroyed, and has better safety and stability than the rigid structure; 2. It has strong anti-scouring ability and can withstand the maximum water flow speed of up to 6m/s; 3. The structure is essentially permeable and has a strong tolerance for the natural effect and filtration of groundwater. The suspended matter and silt in the water can be settled in the stone filling cracks, which is conducive to the growth of natural plants and gradually restores the original ecological environment. The gabion mesh is a mesh made of iron wire or polymer wire to fix the stone filling in place. The wire cage is a structure made of a mesh woven by iron wire or welded. These two structures can be electroplated, and the woven wire box can be coated with PVC. Use weather-resistant hard stones as filler, which will not break quickly due to abrasion in stone boxes or gabions.
